Milestone of "Business Plus"

In 2012, ZJU-SOM launched the Global Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management Program (GMSCM) in cooperation with Desautels Faculty of Management of McGill University in Canada. At the core of the program is the idea of "Business + Manufacturing" and the program targets at managers and entrepreneurs from manufacturing, producer services, and logistics industries.

In July 2014, ZJU-SOM transformed its previous MBA education mode and implemented the MBA track system, focusing on the demands of niche markets. Subsequently, the School launched a series of MBA tracks including Agri-Business Management, Healthcare Management, Culture and Tourism Industry Management etc.

In September 2017, ZJU-SOM started to optimize its undergraduate education and scaled down its original 8 majors into 3, taking "management theory + humanistic spirit + scientific and technological insight" as the core idea of the reform.

 
In August 2018, the ZJU-SOM-Ali Cloud Digital Economy Research Center was established, marking the official launch of the "Joint Development Plan with Top Enterprises." The training mode of "Business + Data" was implemented in Executive Development Program (EDP).

In October 2018, Dean WEI Jiang, in an interview by Manager Magazine, formally proposed "Business Plus" in EMBA program. As a result, the program topped 2019 EMBA program ranking in terms of curriculum reform and cultivation effectiveness.

In December 2018, a series of joint projects has been launched together with the School’s corporate parnters in order to promote deep cooperation between academia and industry. Each project involves a team comprised of faculty members, graduate students and professionals from enterprises, including Dahua Technology, Wuchan Zhongda, Cainiao Network and Netease Network etc.

In 2018, the School upgraded its student overseas programs and designed several thematic routes in collaboration with its global partners, such as "Design + Entrepreneurship" program with Singapore University of Technology and Design, and "Humanities + Science" with Cambridge University.

In January 2019, in line with the concept of making full advantages of being a "business school in a comprehensive university", the School’s EMBA program held a cross-border New Year Forum. Deans from ZJU College of Computer Science and Technology, School of Humanities, Industrial Technology Research Institute, and School of Management witnessed together the official launch of "Business Plus" education ecosystem; thus a talent cultivation cooperation alliance formed between of ZJU-SOM and engineering, humanities and information technology.

In April 2019, the "SMART" plan was launched with a series of reforms carried out in the program learning objectives and curriculum design, marking an implementation of “Business Plus" in EMBA program.

In May 2019, ZJU-SOM and Chu Kochen Honors College jointly launched the nation’s first undergraduate major of "Intelligent Finance".

In December 2019, the School organized the first academic conference on the development of "Intelligent Finance" major, focusing on the deep integration of "corporate finance + artificial intelligence + big data" to cultivate financial management talents and future business leaders.

In September 2019, the School initiated "M-STEP" plan and launched the Strategic Entrepreneur Program. Taking "Business + Technology + Ethical Responsibility + Philosophy" as the core, the program indicates a new height of Executive Education innovation in Zhejiang University.

In September 2019, ZJU-SOM Young Entrepreneurs Committee of ZJU-SOM was established with 23 listed companies, unicorn and quasi unicorn enterprises built partnerships with the School, enabling the development of new manufacturing, new energy and new retail.

In October 2019, ZJU-SOM-H3C Digital Economy Research Center was established to promote the implementation of "Business + Digital Technology" through co-design high-end training programs.

In November 2019, ZJU-SOM and Zhejiang (S) Entrepreneurs Association jointly launched a think tank center. Jack Ma and SHEN Guojun attended the unveiling ceremony and award the plaque for the Center. The ZJU Academy of Global Zhejiang Entrepreneurs became a strategic partner of more than 12 million Zhejiang entrepreneurs.

In 2019, ZJU-SOM established "7 + 1" corporate strategic partnership with Geely, Huawei, Alibaba, H3C, Wuchan Zhongda, Hengyi, Dahua and Flexible Electronics Center, delving into the "Business Plus" industry-academia cooperation mode.

In December 2019, the School’s Office of Corporate Relations was established, working closely together with the Development and Liaison Office.

In December 2019, ZJU-SOM and the Flexible Electronics Technology Collaborative Innovation Center signed a strategic cooperation agreement to establish the "1+X Innovation Center of Flexible Electronics", aiming to develop the first systematized management innovation center focusing on the technology transfer of flexible electronic technology achievements and innovation and entrepreneurship.

In December 2019, seven of the School’s Executive Education programs, with “Business Plus” incorporated in curriculum and program names, were recognized as competitive continuing education programs of Zhejiang University, with their curriculum or program "Business Plus" element.

In 2019, the MBA Track was upgraded and adjusted, adding business analytics and big data as a new track. By integrating data science, decision science and AI into the curriculum, the new track aims to develop managers who can make full use of digital economy.

In April 2020, the Executive Education Project Department was established as a sub-division of the School’s Executive Development Program Office. The Department focuses on implementing "Business Plus" education ecosystem in executive education. The Department appointed professors to serve as the academic directors in designing programs and curriculum.

In 2020, ZJU-SOM MBA Program developed the course of "Frontier Technologies and Innovative Industries" in collaboration with national key laboratories and research centers in Zhejiang University, aiming to help students understand frontier technologies and industries and explore the path for technology transfer and commercialization.
