NeuroIS: The Next Frontier of Information Systems Research

摘要:

NeuroIS, defined as using cognitive neuroscience theories, methods, and tools for conducting information systems research, offers unique theoretical and methodological advantages that extend the reach and elevate the rigor of IS research that involves human subjects. By scientifically measuring brain activities of human subjects performing various tasks under highly controlled conditions, NeuroIS helps overcome some major challenges that have plagued behavioral IS research: low fidelity data, unrepeatable results, and non-falsifiable conclusions. In essence, NeuroIS makes IS research more scientific. In this presentation, I argue that NeuroIS research offers significant potential in all three paradigms of IS research: the behavioral science approach, the design science approach, and the economic science approach. I highlight some of the key research challenges in each of these paradigms and illustrate how NeuroIS could provide new insights on managing information security with a study on the impact of self-control and moral beliefs on individual intention in corporate information security settings.   

报告人简介:

胡清教授现任美国纽约市立大学(The City University of New York)巴鲁克学院兹科林商学院(Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College),主管学术与创新的副院长及信息系统学终身教授。此前曾任美国爱荷华州立大学(Iowa State University)商学院副院长,供应链及信息系统系主任,及联合太平洋公司信息系统学讲席教授。胡清教授的研究领域涵盖信息经济学、管理科学、行为科学、神经科学,及认知心理学等交叉学科。胡教授共发重要国际期刊论文48篇、重要的国际会议论文82篇。截至2017年10月,根据Google Scholar,他的论文共收到他引6500多次,h-index达36,属于全球Top 100信息系统学者。他在国际知名IT期刊Communications of the ACM 上发表的关于信息安全的两篇论文都得到了超过1万6千次的全文下载。他也是首先将神经科学引入到信息安全研究的学者之一,其研究成果于2015年发表在著名的国际信息系统学期刊JMIS上,并在国际互联网得到大量报道。
